Multimode analog filter + auto-wah, AU/AUv3 + standalone — iPhone, iPad & Mac

coming soonApp Storecoming soonMac App Store

Tonic Filter is the filter section from Tonic in its own focused, affordable app — as an Audio Unit (AU and AUv3) effect in GarageBand, Logic, AUM, Cubasis, Drambo and any host, and as a standalone app that processes your microphone or line input. Eight analog-modeling voicings (LP/HP/BP/Notch, 12 or 24 dB/oct, resonance to self-oscillation, drive), an envelope follower that opens the cutoff with your signal — the classic auto-wah —, audio-triggered ADSR and amp envelopes (no MIDI needed) and a tempo-syncable LFO. Full MIDI Learn. All on-device, no subscription and no data collected.

Features

Eight filter voicings

From clean and surgical to screaming and unstable — LP/HP/BP/Notch, 12 or 24 dB/oct, resonance to self-oscillation.

Built-in auto-wah

An envelope follower opens the cutoff with the signal level; dial in sensitivity, attack and release and the filter breathes with your playing.

Audio-driven envelopes

ADSR and amp envelopes triggered by the audio itself, for dynamic, rhythmic sweeps — no MIDI note needed.

Movement

A tempo-syncable LFO (sine, triangle, saw, square, sample & hold) plus drive for saturated, resonant grit.

AU/AUv3 plug-in

Use it in AUM, Logic, GarageBand, Cubasis and others — or standalone, processing mic or line.

Made to play

Full MIDI Learn and factory presets. Native on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

What it's for

Tonic Filter is the filter section from Tonic extracted into its own focused, affordable app. It runs as an Audio Unit (AU and AUv3) effect inside GarageBand, Logic, AUM, Cubasis, Drambo and any host, and as a standalone app that processes your microphone or line input. It offers eight analog-modeling voicings (LP/HP/BP/Notch, 12 or 24 dB/oct, resonance to self-oscillation, drive), an envelope follower that opens the cutoff with the signal level — the classic auto-wah / envelope filter —, audio-triggered ADSR and amp envelopes (no MIDI note needed) and a tempo-syncable LFO, with full MIDI Learn. All on-device, no account, no subscription and no data collected.

FAQ

Does Tonic Filter work as a plug-in?

Yes. It runs as an AU and AUv3 effect inside your host (GarageBand, Logic, AUM, Cubasis, Drambo and others) and also as a standalone app, processing your microphone or line input.

What is the envelope auto-wah?

A built-in envelope follower opens the filter cutoff with the level of the incoming signal — the harder you play, the more the filter opens. It is the classic "envelope filter" / auto-wah, with no MIDI needed.

Do I need to send MIDI notes for the envelopes?

No. The ADSR and amp envelopes are triggered by the audio itself (via a threshold), so you get dynamic, rhythmic sweeps just by running sound through the filter.

How many filter types are there?

Eight analog-modeling voicings, with low-pass, high-pass, band-pass and notch modes, 12 or 24 dB/oct slopes and resonance up to self-oscillation.

Do I need Tonic to use it?

No. Tonic Filter is a standalone app — it is Tonic's filter section in its own leaner, cheaper product.

When does it launch?

Coming soon to the stores. Follow @rsjb_app for the launch announcement.
