Privacy Policy

What we collect

We do not track you: there are no ads and no analytics/tracking SDKs, and we ask for no account, name or email. Outside the sound communities, nothing leaves your device. The communities are optional, work entirely inside the app, and what they send is detailed below.

Tonica — the sound community (Tonic)

Tonica is where Tonic users publish and download sounds. Publishing is public: the preset (Tonic native format only — you cannot upload other files), the author nickname you choose, the tags, the description and the saves counter are visible to every user of the app.

• ·Identity: the app creates its own random code — it is not Apple’s advertising identifier and not your device serial. It syncs between your devices through your own iCloud, only so you count as a single author and can delete your uploads from any of them.
• ·Browsing: the app fetches the sound list and sends that code only to mark which sounds are yours. Saving a sound adds +1 to the public counter (deduplicated per device). Reporting sends the id of the reported sound.
• ·Deleting: you remove your own uploads with the delete button in the app, from any of your devices; reported content may be removed by moderation. Email requests are honoured too.
• ·Where it lives: on an RSJB server at a cloud hosting provider (standard server logs may apply). No data is ever sold or shared with third parties.

Tonic EP community

The Tonic EP community works like Tonica, in a separate space on the server: Tonic EP users publish and download electric-piano sounds. There is no sign-up. Publishing is public: the preset (Tonic EP native format only — you cannot upload other files), the author nickname you choose, the tags, the description and the saves counter are visible to every user of the app.

• ·Identity: the app creates two random codes of its own — one per device and a user key; neither is Apple’s advertising identifier or your device serial. The key syncs between your devices through your own iCloud, only so you count as a single author and can delete your uploads from any of them.
• ·Browsing and saving: the app fetches the sound list and sends those codes only to mark which sounds are yours and to count a save once per person. Reporting sends the id of the reported sound, the reason you picked (offensive, trademark, spam or broken) and the note, if you write one.
• ·Deleting: you remove a single upload, or everything you published at once, in the app, from any of your devices; reported content may be hidden or removed by moderation. Email requests are honoured too.
• ·Where it lives: on the same RSJB server, at a cloud hosting provider (standard server logs may apply). No data is ever sold or shared with third parties.

Your files

The files you open or create (.sf2, .syx, .exs, audio, presets, keyboard banks and backups) are processed locally and stay on your device, or wherever you choose to save them. They are never uploaded to us or any third party.

MIDI & audio

If you grant MIDI access, it is used only to play and preview on-device — and, in the keyboard editors (NL4 Editor and NX Editor), to talk to your instrument: sending commands and reading and writing sounds. What the app reads from the keyboard stays on your device. Audio is generated locally and is never recorded or sent anywhere.

Permissions

File access only when you pick a file, via the standard system picker — the app sees only what you select. MIDI only when you connect a controller or an instrument.

Network

The apps are native and work offline. The exception is the sound communities (Tonica, in Tonic, and the Tonic EP community), described above — the network is used only to browse, save and publish sounds inside the app itself. This website is served as static files; opening it makes a normal request to the hosting provider (standard server logs may apply). Outside the communities, your files are not transmitted.

Children

The apps are not directed at children under 13. We collect no personal data — even in the communities your identity is an anonymous code created by the app — so they comply with COPPA and analogous regulations.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will be updated. The principle is simple: if the app does not need the data to work, it does not touch the data.
