How to merge SoundFont .sf2 files on iPhone, iPad and Mac
Step by step to combine several SoundFonts into a single .sf2 bank — with no quality loss — using Rsf2.
Merging SoundFonts means combining several .sf2 files into one bank — handy for building a themed library (say "Orchestra" or "Keys") without juggling dozens of loose files. Here is how to do it on iPhone, iPad or Mac with Rsf2.
Step by step
- 1Open Rsf2 and tap the Merge tab.
- 2Tap "Add .sf2" and select the SoundFonts you want to combine (from the Files app, iCloud Drive, Dropbox, etc.).
- 3Drag presets to set the MIDI order (bank:program).
- 4Tap Generate and choose where to save the new .sf2.
- 5Done: a single bank with every preset, byte for byte identical to the originals.
Why there is no quality loss
Rsf2 copies audio byte for byte, with no resampling or re-encoding. The final SoundFont sounds exactly like the source files.
Format limits
The SF2 format supports up to ~4 GB and ~65,000 internal regions. Huge banks can hit that ceiling — if so, merge fewer presets per file.
