How to split a SoundFont .sf2 into individual presets

Break a large SoundFont into individual .sf2 files (one per preset) on iPhone, iPad or Mac with Rsf2.

Splitting a SoundFont is the opposite of merging: you take a .sf2 with several presets and produce one individual file per preset. Great for reusing only the instruments you care about in other libraries.

Step by step

  1. 1Open Rsf2 and go to the Split tab.
  2. 2Tap "Add .sf2" and choose the SoundFont you want to divide.
  3. 3Select the presets to extract (or all of them).
  4. 4Tap Generate — Rsf2 creates one .sf2 per preset.
  5. 5Pick the destination folder and save.

Tip

The resulting files are byte-exact. You can later merge them into new combinations with the Merge tab.
